By using IndiaScan, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Access
IndiaScan may access information on your device only when required to provide a feature that you request.
Camera
IndiaScan requests access to your device camera so that you can scan and photograph documents. Camera access is used for document scanning and document edge detection. IndiaScan does not use the camera for continuous surveillance or for collecting information unrelated to document-scanning functionality. Camera images are processed for the scanning functionality and are stored as part of your documents when you choose to save a scan.
Photos and Images
IndiaScan may request access to photos/images on your device so that you can select images for scanning or importing. You control which images you select through the Android file/photo selection interface.
PDF and Other Files
IndiaScan allows you to select PDF files and other supported files for importing and processing. The App accesses files that you explicitly select for import or sharing. It does not intentionally scan unrelated files on your device.
Device Storage
IndiaScan stores documents, document images, generated PDFs, extracted text, folders, tags, notes, and related application data locally on your device.
2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
IndiaScan is designed primarily for local document processingand storage. Depending on the features you use, the App may store:

- Document categories
- Folders
- Tags
- Notes
- OCR/extracted text
- Page information
- Document metadata such as creation and modification times
- Document thumbnails
- User-selected document preferences
- Information necessary to process and export documents
This information is used to provide document scanning, organization, searching, editing, OCR, tagging and export functionality.
IndiaScan does not require you to create an account to use its core document-scanning functionality.
3. Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
IndiaScan uses machine-learning functionality to recognize text contained in documents. Where supported by the installed machine-learning components, text recognitionand document analysis are performed on the device. OCR may identify information contained in your documents, such as:
- Names
- Addresses
- Email addresses
- Telephone numbers
- Dates
- Amounts
- URLs
- Document numbers
- Other text appearing in the scanned document
OCR results may be stored locally as part of your document so that you can search, view and organize your documents.
IndiaScan does not intentionally transmit OCR results to a remote server merely because OCR is performed.
4. AI-Powered Text Improvement
IndiaScan includes an optional AI-assisted text improvement feature. When you explicitly use the AI text improvement feature, the text that you submit for improvement may be transmitted to Google Gemini / Google's generative AI service through the configured Gemini API.
This may include text that you previously extracted from a scanned document or text that you manually entered or edited.
For example, if you choose to improve OCR-extracted text using the AI feature, that text is sent to the AI service to generate an improved version.
